FitUP: Worksite Promotional Materials Packet

The official "kickoff date" for FitUP is Monday, January 7, 2008.
Registration for FitUP begins on Monday, November 26, 2007.

The FitUP project is designed to offer your worksite the same type of wellness programming that is provided by many Fortune 500 companies for their employees.

..FitUP is an 8-month fitness/nutrition incentive program designed to motivate your employees to improve their health status. Health care costs are largely determined on people needing health care. It is well documented that more than half of all health admissions are preventable! Diabetes, heart disease, and cancer rates can be much lower than they are now. With an aging workforce, these diseases will only drive costs higher! We know that in the Upper Peninsula over 2/3 of adults do not get the amount of physical activity needed to reduce disease rates. Another 75% do not eat enough fruits and vegetables. The goal of this program is to increase fitness and nutrition levels of Upper Peninsula residents. We can have the healthiest workforce which will in turn make our region more competitive by having the best resource, a healthy workforce!

..FitUP is an incentive based project designed to create a motivational system that will allow employees to keep track of their fitness and nutrition. Over $4,500 in incentives are built into the program.

..FitUP will assist companies to utilize this program as a template to modify it for their own needs. For example, if you would like to have a Team Competition for Employee Health & Fitness Week, you can easily do so. The program will keep track of individual points. Employees can form their own teams and use the point system to complete their own weekly team totals. The success of the project will be up to each individual employer to create additional incentives to keep it fresh (See In-house Incentive Idea Worksheet (Adobe PDF: 18KB)).

..FitUP will provide your company access to the Designing Healthy Environments at Work (DHEW) Assessment Tool. This tool was especially developed to help worksites assess their environment to find out how it supports a healthy eating, physical activity and a tobacco-free lifestyle. It essentially provides you with a roadmap to help you insure that your company is doing all that it can to increase health. There’s even an incentive for you! Complete the DHEW by February 1 and your worksite can win 6 "Get Moving" jackets to be used as additional incentives for your worksite program. It's easy to get started with the incentive, just click here (www.mihealthtools.org/work).

..FitUP Worksite Kit provides you with posters, payroll stuffers and registration information that will make it very easy to have a successful program at your worksite. What's the cost??? It's FREE.
